Most surrogates are not informed by Intended Parents or
Industry Professionals that there is any risk at all. Medical insurance issues affect you and your family.

Get it in Writing
There is no guarantee of coverage from group policies, family policies or individual policies. Unless the surrogate themselves has written confirmation that their medical insurance will pay claims for a surrogate maternity and delivery care or it is specifically written within the surrogates benefits.
Why doesn't my major medical insurance cover my pregnancy?
There could be many reasons of why your medical policy will not pay claims on your surrogate pregnancy. One common cause of denial is your surrogate pregnancy claims are treated as a third party claim. This means if you, as the surrogate, are compensated in any way for your surrogate pregnancy, the insurance company has a right to repossess the dollars they paid on the surrogate pregnancy claims from you directly.  For example: if you are in an auto accident resulting in medical claims and you win a lawsuit settlement or are compensated for your accident, your insurance company will repossess the dollars they paid for you on your medical claims from the auto accident.

If you use your personal insurance policy the claims are in YOUR NAME. Don't jeopardize your insurance or your personal finances that could lead you to BANKRUPTCY!
